Our Thornapple Credit Union offers children ages 17 years or younger the opportunity to learn about the value of a sound savings plan. As a part of our TCU Youth Savings League, children will be offered fun and engaging ways to learn about the value of money and the importance of saving it! Whether it’s quarters from the tooth fairy, birthday money, or a special allowance, our Youth Accounts are the perfect savings options for your child!

Youth Savings Accounts
Once a child joins, they gain access to tools that assist them in setting and achieving their savings goals!
What you need to set up a Youth Account:

proof of social security number,

$5 Starting Deposit.

Youth Savings Accounts cannot be set up online. Please visit a Member Services Representative at one of our local branches for assistance.
Youth Checking Accounts (9yrs+)
What you need to set up a Youth Account:

4H Advance Program
The 4-H Advance Program is designed to empower youth by providing financial support for educational or agricultural projects. Participants can borrow up to $750 with repayment from fair earnings, fostering responsibility and real-world financial management experience. Funds will be tiered based on age and project.

TCU Student Scholarship
$1000 Scholarship aims to acknowledge and promote academic excellence community engagement, and outstanding character.
Requirements to qualify for scholarship:
1. Scholarships are available to members of TCU who are high school seniors or home-schooled seniors.
2. Must be a member, in good standing, of Thornapple Credit Union. If you do not have an account but would like to apply for this scholarship, you will need to open a new account at TCU.
The Scholarship Application: Part 1: Student Application
Part 2: Written Recommendation from one non-relative such as a neighbor, boss, teacher or a coach.
Part 3: A typed essay (500 words or less) on the philosophy of “People Helping People”.
